IIS2sql - IIS log management made simple
Who?
If you are reading this, then you undoubtedly are looking for a better way to manage your iis logs. So were we, the IIS logs are a wealth of information that many never explore.
Why?
IIS2sql manages your IIS logs so you don't have to. It imports all the records from the logs that you don't exclude, so it's easily accessible in SQL. Want to know how many Windows 98 machines still visit your website? You can look in all the logs manually for the information - or you can write a report in SQL that gathers all the stats for you much easier.
When?
IIS2sql maintains the hard copy IIS logs based on the retention schedule you set. The data inSQL stays in SQL though until you purge it. Data can be imported from the logs as often as once per hour.
Feature Highlights
No Installer
IIS2sql doesn't have an installer, just drop the executable and it's configuration file in any directory you want it to live in and run it. Just install .Net 4.7 first. IIS2sql can be run from a scheduled task, manually or a batch file.
Automatic Fields
Every IIS W3C log contains headers that identifies all the fields that follow. IIS2sql will load those headers and create the fields it finds in the log automatically in the database. Add a field to the IIS logs? No worry, IIS2sql will add the field to SQL for you.
Low Memory
IIS2sql only uses a couple MB of memory when running. As a console application it doesn't have a fancy GUI to load and doesn't buffer tons of data, letting it be a very low impact on your servers.
Multi-Server Configuration
Have multiple webservers you want to import the logs for? Not a problem, specify the server alias name in the configuration file and it will be written into the database so you can tell where each record originated.
Fully Functional Demo
The demo version if IIS2sql works the same as the licensed version except it periodically writes DEMO into the SQL data it imports randomly a and it is limited on how many days of logs it will maintain on disk still.
Site Licensing
Multiple servers to import the logs from isn't a problem, IIS2sql is licensed by site - any number of servers at the same site is just one licensing fee.
